Expat life can be a beautiful and enriching experience. But the expatriation process is by no means an easy one. It requires emotional resilience, self-awareness, adaptability and a positive mindset. Above all, it requires knowledge.

Over the past years I've been coaching and training expats in the process of dealing with  communicational challenges, culture shock and in adopting an intercultural mindset. 

Having lived, studied and worked as partner of a diplomat in the USA, Canada and Chile for over 7 years, taught me the importance of cultural adaption. Often we think that general knowledge of other cultures and good intentions are enough to successfully create a life and do business abroad. I've found this not to be the case. 

To effectively operate in a culture that differs from our own requires more. We need specific knowledge of  the cultural background of the individuals we engage with. It requires knowledge of our own cultural background, and it requires the ability to shift our cultural perspective from time to time.
